E.F.F. Discloses How Social Media Sites Provide Data to Law Enforcement

Given all the buzz about the use of social media in investigations in the private sector… it is also being used in investigations in the public sector (law enforcement) as written about in yesterday’s blog.

But under what conditions are social media users information released to law enforcement for their investigations? I found this to be interesting… The Electronic Frontier Federation (E.F.F.) submitted Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to a number of social media sites requesting copies of their policies for releasing information to federal law enforcement agencies and compiled the information for release.
